Upcoming Election Revives Horrid Cabbage Patch Dolls

As a child of the '80s, I vividly remember the Cabbage Patch Kid era. I did not own a Cabbage Patch Kid (my family tended to get the real trendy toys about three years after their debut -- read: obtaining the Atari 2600 around the same time everyone else was getting the Atari 5200), but I was exposed to them.

Now that I'm a grownup and can blow my allowance paycheck on frivolous items, I'm still not sure that I want to fritter it away on these Cabbage Patch versions of Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, their running mates, and Michelle Obama, especially because they look pretty much nothing like the real thing (I know it's hard to translate presidential personas to plush, but still). They're not even for sale at retail: Only five dolls will be available for auction on eBay starting October 30.

OK, truth: The Joe Biden doll tempts me.
