The Kids Are Sick, So Watch This Stuff

There are some days, like today, when both kids are sick, and you're not feeling well yourself, and you don't feel like doing anything, especially blogging, but veg out and watch TV and hope that every moment that ticks by brings you closer to that point where everyone feels like themselves again.

So here are a few clips from the Interwebs that we've played for our kids when we want to deliver a little bit of historical humor as a respite from the third consecutive hour of SpongeBob reruns. The joy is watching the kids see these clips for the first (or first hundred) times, and actually injecting new life into stuff I know by heart.

This famous scene from the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup (1933) proves that a silent sequence in a 76-year-old movie can still get laughs.



There are so many clips from the old Muppet Show that never get old, such as this one, featuring ventriloquist extraordinaire SeƱor Wences:



There's also this crazy Muppet Show clip featuring Mummenschanz. Looking at it now, I find it kind of scary, but Jackson enjoys it as much as I did as a young boy:



And you can never go wrong with the Bugs Bunny cartoon featuring Pete "Oh, Three or Four" Puma. (Watch it here.)

All of this proves that some stuff just doesn't get old.
