Traditional gender roles are apparently alive and well, according to an article claiming that 10-year-old girls are spending almost an hour more on chores than boys. Our kids are too young to do much in terms of chores, at least as long as Jenn says I can't have 5-year-old Jackson mowing the lawn. Even though the kids are conditioned to keep their school/preschool classrooms immaculate, at home, when it's time to put away all the crap they took out, they instantly become whiny invalids who suddenly wonder How did all these toys appear on the floor?
Curiously (or not), Jenn does most of the housework around here. I most often do the laundry and load the dishwasher, mainly because I'm anal about those chores, and I sometimes clean the bathroom. I don't expect her to mow the lawn, because she'd find a way to set the house on fire. But Jenn does everything else, pretty much.
I suppose once the kids are older, we'll start working them into the weekly chores, but I'm expecting we'll try to maintain an equal distribution of work. Jackson will be old enough to mow the lawn, and Sasha can do laundry and the dishes and they can team up on the bathroom...and I can sleep late.

So there is a silver lining? I look forward to the day I don’t need to walk the dog anymore. The Dog most likely wont want to go for walks when she is that old, but a man can dream.
