Sugar Is Bad, Part II: Sweet! Now You've Got the Flu!

Some nutritionist is saying that eating sugar lowers your immune system and makes you more likely to get the flu.

It makes sense, if you think about it. Sugar isn't really good for you, and flu season seems to always begin right after Halloween.

Of course, in the same article an infectious-disease specialist, a professor of pediatrics, and the spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association all claim there's actually no correlation between sugar intake and sickness.

Once again, we have an article that leaves the reader unsure over what to believe; it's like the Lewis Black bit about eggs being good for you, then bad for you, then good for you. It all comes down to that element of our lives that we often neglect: common sense. As one of these medical experts says:
There are numerous other reasons people should be concerned about sugar intake...there's no reason not to drink a glass of soda just because someone next to you is sniffling.
So next time I get the sniffles, I'm gonna put down those zinc tablets and grab a Snickers bar.
